Impeachment Lunacy

For the past several months, I have been watching the impeachment proceedings against President Trump. I must say that I am having a great deal of difficulty understanding how the allegations against the President, even if they were true (which I do not believe they are), justify impeaching a duly elected President.  Where are the high crimes and misdemeanours required by the United States Constitution as a prerequisite to impeach the holder of the highest office in the land?

It seems obvious to me that this entire episode has been politically orchestrated and perpetuated by people who, I predict, history will not treat kindly, as they have set a precedent where impeachment could very well become a regular occurrence in the United States.

My observation is that the members of the Democratic Party who are behind this impeachment initiative are not likeable people.  Adam Schiff and Jerrold Nadler are two people who I would not want to befriend.  Schiff has been one of the principal architects of the so-called Russia Inquiry, culminating in the Mueller Report which exonerated President Trump of the accusations levelled against him.  During the course of the investigation, Schiff out and out lied that he had in his possession information that would conclusively prove that candidate Trump colluded with the Russians to rig the 2016 Presidential election.  He had no such evidence. He lied, and lied on national television and did so many times.  The man is the definition of someone who is disingenuous.

Virtually on the eve of Robert Meuller’s Report exonerating the President, Schiff announced that he had received a “whistleblower” report—a report many suspect he and his staff wrote. The report alleged that President Trump participated in a telephone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, wherein President Trump asked Zelensky to help the United States investigate whether or not Ukraine attempted to influence the 2016 US Presidential election and to look into corruption in Ukraine in general and that of Hunter Biden and his father—the former Vice-President of the United States, Joe Biden—in particular.

By the way, there appears to be an abundance of evidence that the senior Biden used his career as a politician to feather the nest of his family and do so in spades.  And from what I can gather, Joe Biden is not the only United States Senator or Congressman/woman who has done exactly the same thing.  It seems that people get elected to office in a virtually penniless state and like magic, they leave office as multi-millionaires.  There is one glaring exception in the form of President Trump, who donates his entire salary to various charities and has no economic need to defraud his fellow citizens.

One would reasonably think that members of the Democratic Party would want to find out if the Bidens had been gaming the system for their own personal enrichment.  Were I an American citizen, I would surely want to know but, apparently, people like Schiff, Nadler, Chuck Schumer and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, would rather spend their time and efforts going after the first President in memory to actually do something for the benefit of the American people.  In fact, what President Trump has accomplished in three years, others have failed to do over past decades.  And what is President Trump’s reward?  It is impeachment by the old guard—corrupt Washington self-serving elites just like Joe Biden and his family members.

While this impeachment debacle was going on, the Inspector General finally, after an interminable delay, presented his report and it was more than critical of the corrupt practices of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).  The Inspector General documented seventeen irregularities in documentation submitted to the FISA Court to obtain Court-ordered surveillance of innocent United States citizens.

Partly as a result of the IG’s Report, Attorney General William Barr’s Department of Justice is looking into the FBI and other high-profile government agencies like the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).  Attorney General Barr has appointed John Durham, the US Attorney for the District of Connecticut, to investigate these matters further. The Durham investigation has the power to bring people before a Grand Jury and lay criminal charges against those who have broken laws while abusing their authority.  His investigation is a criminal investigation.  I expect that James Comey (former head of the FBI), James Clapper (former US Director of National Intelligence), John Brennan (former head of the CIA), along with others employed by the FBI at high levels and perhaps even senior members of the Obama administration will, at least, have some questions to answer.

From what has been revealed to date, it seems clear that senior people in major government agencies broke the law in their zeal to see Donald Trump defeated in the 2016 presidential election and cause his demise even after he was duly elected.  This is, or should be, very scary stuff for anyone with a brain in their head.  However, the left-wing media and the Democratic Party continue in their quest to justify the unjustifiable.  As a result of the never-ending gibberish and blatant untruths coming from the mouths of Joe Scarborough, Rachel Maddow, Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon and Fredo Cuomo, the left in the United States have been whipped into a lather and believe the nonsense coming from the not-very-bright Democrats in the US House of Representatives.

This charade has ripped the mask off the faces of many incompetent people who pretend to be a governing class.  What I witnessed made me sick.  Some of these people are just too stupid to have the positions they enjoy.  It is sad, really sad, to witness.  Stop for a moment and ask yourself how you would like these raving ideologues—and their masters in the press—running your life.  I believe it would make life as described by George Orwell in his book “1984” seem like a paradise in comparison to what these ultra-liberals are advocating.

Now, after the House of Representative voted to impeach President Trump, the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi is, according to tradition and the Constitution, required to send the Articles of Impeachment to the United States Senate for a trial to be presided over by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States—in this case, Chief Justice John Roberts. Because the Constitution does not stipulate a time frame for when the Articles of Impeachment are to be sent from the House of Representatives to the Senate, Speaker Pelosi is not letting on if or when she will send the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate.  The ultra nerdy, arrogant, not at all likeable Harvard professor who testified before the Impeachment Inquiry has now opined that if Pelosi does not send the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate, the entire Impeachment by the partisan House of Representatives would be vitiated.  If that happens, all of this impeachment nonsense will be for naught and a complete waste of time.

Now, I hear people on television blather on about how smart Pelosi is.  I just do not share that view.  She strikes me as a conniving, petty, stupid woman who is difficult for any reasonable person to relate to or even like.  She is the one who famously said that the House of Representatives had to pass the Affordable Care Act so “we can see what is in it.”  Fortunately for the well-being of the country, the silly woman is 79 years old. One day soon her terrorizing of the United States while feathering her own nest will, thankfully, end.

If and when the Articles of Impeachment reach the Senate, the Senate will inject some common sense into what has occurred to-date and quickly dispose of the matter.  In the legal game, when one party sues another, the Plaintiff has an obligation to present a case to a Court which reveals, in law, a cause of action that requires an answer from the Defendant.  If no cause of action known to the law is presented to a Court by the Plaintiff, the Defendant can ask for what is called a “non-suit” or summary judgement. The Court can find in favour of the Defendant because the Plaintiff has not provided evidence sufficient to support the Plaintiff’s claim.  This is what I expect will happen if the Articles of Impeachment reach the floor of the Senate.  The two Articles of Impeachment in this instance are so nebulous so as not to even justify an answer and cry out to be disposed of in a summary manner.  This, of course, will cause the Democrats and their media lackeys to go ballistic and make all kinds of frivolous allegations as they have shown that their hypocrisy has no bounds. Now, what does President Trump do when he is exonerated and he wins re-election in November 2020?  I believe he needs to clean house.  By that, I mean too many people within the Government of the United States are working hard to undermine President Trump’s policies.  In spite of these covert actions by career diplomats and other bureaucrats, Obama administration holdovers and Pillsbury Doughboy, military imposters, President Trump has done an outstanding job for his country.  What he might have accomplished had elected officials co-operated with him as opposed to doing everything—regardless of how ill-advised— to thwart virtually every policy he advanced is a question, unfortunately, no one can answer.  He must get rid of all those who are lurking in the weeds of government, just waiting for the opportunity to undermine policies implemented by the President and which clearly fall within his executive powers.  These people must be found out and released from their jobs until at least, another incompetent, politically correct Democrat ascends to the White House.

Were I to have one criticism of President Trump, it is that he has allowed himself to be misled by too many of those who subsequent events proved were inappropriate appointees.  Paul Ryan caused President Trump much of the grief he has endured.  He was an awful Speaker of the House and gave really bad advice to President Trump. Because the President was not all that familiar with Washington politics, he relied on those who seemed to know what they were doing and instead failed the President miserably.  Ryan had two full years to really make a difference and that lazy man blew it.  History will treat him as it should.

In spite of every roadblock that has been placed in front of him, Donald Trump has done a terrific job as President of the United States.  I suspect that he will be re-elected in 2020, and if the Republicans can regain control of the House of Representatives and maintain its majority in the Senate, President Trump, with four years of experience under his belt, will do things for his country that most cannot even imagine.  He will set the stage for others like him to consider entering the political arena and elbow out of the way those gray-faced, career, corrupt and downright stupid people who have populated the ranks of the nation’s government at all levels for far too long.  When others see what Donald Trump has accomplished and realize that it is possible to make a difference, the hope is that others with the necessary business acumen and leadership abilities will enter the fray.  President Trump has given those who follow his lead a road map for political success.  Americans can only hope others are inspired to grab the baton.

If only Canada had such a leader.

    Ron:
Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog.
As you can no doubt gather, I am a big fan of President Trump. Is he brash, sometimes crude, have a large ego and fights back against those who attack him and his policies? Yes he does and good for him!
What the man has accomplished in the face of corrupt Democratic Party obstructionists, and their media lackeys, is really quite incredible.
As I noted at the end of my blog, Canadians should be so fortunate as to have a leader with the abilities and accomplishments of President Trump.
    Cheers,
    Rod
